A Beatles Fans Interview with The Mona Lisa Twins

Its been a while since we have had an interview here but i am glad
to bring this interview to you all with the fabulous Mona Lisa Twins.
How did you first get into playing music?
We grew up in a small village in Austria just outside of Vienna
where our Dad was running a professional recording
studios, and we were always surrounded by musicians,
instruments, sound and music. The radio was always on,
our Dad was singing and making music with us ever since
we can remember, so growing up it was a very natural
thing for us to pick up instruments ourselves at one point.
When I was 11 I started taking bass and shortly after
that guitar lessons and Mona started off on the drums. Soon
we were both visiting each other’s classes too and started
jamming together. Or at least we tried. It sounded exactly
like you imagine two 11 years old little kids “jamming”
would sound like. But the wobbly musical mess soon turned
 into a lifelong obsession.
At what age did you first get into beatles music?
M: Our personal Beatlemania probably really kicked
off at the age of 13. We happened to come across the
remastered album collection on Dad’s computer and
that’s when it really hit us for the first time. Like REALLY
hit us when we clicked from song to song, from album
to album in complete utter disbelief on how it was
possible to consistently write such fantastic, diverse,
mesmerizing songs. In comparison to THAT even the
best of music aimed at our generation sounded like a
sad attempt to come close to what the Beatles created.
We wanted to find out how they did that, what made those
songs so special, so meaningful and so uplifting to so many people.
What has been your favorite song to cover?
L: In the studio I have great memories of doing “This Boy”
because of those gorgeous 3-part harmonies.
We love these sort of tricky songs where you really
pick the original to pieces to find out how it’s done.
M: There are loads of songs we love covering
for our live performances. Especially at the Cavern Club,
where we play every Saturday night. Closing our sets with
“Revolution” (The Beatles) and “My Generation” (The Who)
is always a thrill, or giving our everything at songs like
“Paint It Black” (The Rolling Stones) or “People Are
Strange” (The Doors).
Where was the best gig you ever played?
That’s a hard one. We’ve played some absolutely cracking
shows at the Cavern with an insane audience and a
real buzz in the air. Some of the shows we did on tour
with “Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel” last year were
unforgettable and the one at the Symphony Hall in
Birmingham will always stand out for me. We were
part of his touring band while also performing our
own songs within Steve Harley’s set. Together we
played a couple of really moving, emotional shows in
some of UK’s most stunning venues.
Were you surprised by your popularity when
you first started?
L: We never had any overnight success. Even
when we started out on YouTube it was a very
steady and natural build-up and we grew with it
very organically. So no actually, I wouldn’t say
we were surprised in a sense that we didn’t expect it
but it was simply great to see that the more work,
effort and love we poured into our music the more
it resonated with people listening. We were however
very positively surprised by the way people welcomed
us in Liverpool when we first moved here two
years ago. It felt like coming home.
If you could pick from The Beatles, who would you
say you were most like in personality?
L: If you compare yourself to god you set yourself
up for failure, right?
Is there anywhere you would like to play,
where you haven't yet?
M: We’d like to play some more shows in the States.
We absolutely loved our time in California but there
are so many more cities and states we’d be thrilled
to perform in. And playing in South America sounds like
an absolute blast too. We’ve got many fans there but
we’ve never had a chance to go over. We promise,
we will make it there one day!
Who is your favorite Beatle?
L: George and the other 3

What is your favorite Beatle era? was it the moptop
era or the psychedelic or what?
M: Musically I preferred the “in-between era” so my
favorite albums are “Rubber Soul” or “Revolver” but
what made the Beatles the Beatles is their entire development,
their ever changing style while never losing the essential magic
that binds all their music and albums together.

Happy 18th Birthday

Today for me is a very special Birthday. my princess
turns 18... now i'm going to write a post about her,
but i am not going to write about how beautiful
and sexy she is, i'm not even going to say about how
much fun she is on webcam just talking to each
other. i'm going to write about something else.
I'm going to talk about how brave this girl is.
Things in her past that have of course effected her
she has moved on from, with so much courage, and
bravery. I have seen the way she handles any kind of
situation, and even though she is only just 18 i can
honestly say she always acts very grown up in any
situations. The amount of times she has told me
she is scared of something or isn't brave, would take
me ages to count. But every time she says how she
isn't brave i cant believe it, because i see a brave
wonderful young lady. I know i'm not always the
easiest of people to talk to.
But this girl has been there for me ever single day
for the past 3 years! Never ever letting me down.
She is a wonderful selfless young lady.
And i am beyond proud to call her mine.
I love you Celeste, I'm sorry i can be hugging you
right now but you make me beyond happy
and i know i'll love you forever and longer then
that. Love you my angel face.
Happy Birthday.

Macca

So Paul McCartney was  named the UK's most successful
album act of all time. And this to me is great, because
no Beatle can get enough awards in my eyes.
Well done Macca

the perfect girl for me. i love you so much my dream girl.

Be Happy

I lately have seen a lot of posts lately on facebook
pages about tribute artist and beatle wanna be's.
These posts are actually very nasty and can get
quite hurtful to people who they are targeting.
There are so many beatle look alikes. some better then others,
but people get so annoyed that someone wants to look like their
idol. They are put down, and tried to put off it.... then they say
"be yourself" and for people who are not happy about how they
look, this comment, even though meant to be nice isn't what they
want to hear. We are living in a world where we say we want people
to be happy, and we accept them for who they are. Or at least most
of us do.
So i say, you want to be Macca or Lennon, then go ahead,
be as close to them as you can,  if thats what you want, but
as with anything it would be worth making sure its what you
really want before you try and do anymore to look like them,
then combing your hair and wearing beatle suits.
But i believe, whatever makes you happy do it. As long as it
doesn't hurt you and doesn't hurt anyone else then just be
happy.

Beatles dolls

So i was surfing the net the other night, and i found
these. check them out, i couldn't afford them but isn't
this great. I'd love to own these. My Girlfriend has got one
of John and Paul, but its in his beatwear clothes and not
as Sgt Pepper. But i'd really love this collection so i'm
sharing it.

Birthday Boy

On this day in 1940
Richard Starkey was born, even though he was a sickly
child he became one of the most famous drummers the
world has ever seen, when the beatles asked him to join
while he was working with another rock group at a Butlins
Holiday camp.
People made fun of his nose and looks, and put him down
for years because of it, and his drumming style,
but its his looks and his drumming style that make Ringo
who he is. He has had success as a beatle and in a solo career.
He is still touring and preforming to sell out crowed today,
and show no sign of stopping. Stepping out to front the stage,
in sequin collar jackets and sparkly t-shirts.
And i am just going to say one thing about his looks int he 60's
at the height of beatlemania. I think that he was cute, not ugly
as some people might think. Always portrayed as the fool, if it
be in movies, of cartoons. A talented man, a beautiful man,
with a loving soul and a caring, giving heart
Happy Birthday Ringo Star!
We Love You Ringo!
